Klunker Classic 1980 – Flashback Friday Edition

Back in the early days of mountain biking in the late seventies and early eighties they didn’t have all the cool technology that we have now. It doesn’t look like it stopped them from having fun based on this video featuring a young Gary Fisher in a wool jersey.

These guys and girls took two days to go 42 miles from Crested Butte to Aspen over a major pass. And they did this on newspaper boy bikes, some of them with coaster brakes and 20 inch wheels.

Sometimes it’s just about getting out there and having fun with your friends. Actually all the time it’s about getting out there and having fun with your friends. Check out this awesome post on MTBR about the good ol’ Klunker days as well, we think you’ll be just as inspired as we were!
